Not long ago, I purchased the entire Mythical Realms collection of fantasy figurines from Safari Ltd., and since many of these creatures appear in my Savage Realms gamebooks, what better way to show them off than by also sharing an excerpt.
This little snippet is from my forthcoming, open-world adventure, Evan-Yor, which I have been working on for nearly three years now, and is the primary reason why my last three gamebooks have been much shorter adventures…
Drawing your weapon, you cue your horse to leave the path and cautiously make your way through the heavy underbrush in the direction you believe the voices are coming from. Rounding a massive tangle of brambles, you unexpectedly find yourself in a broad clearing and just outside the perimeter of what appears to be a camp. Staged throughout are several horse-driven wagons ― each one outfitted with a large cage. While many of the cages are empty, it is what you see in the four that are not that immediately fills you with indignation, for imprisoned in them are a fairy dragon, a unicorn, a pegasus, and a griffin. It is then that you realize that the men and women of this camp are poachers…
