The door introduces you to a ginormous cavern easily the size of the largest football stadium on Earth, but it is the sight of a giant pyramid rising from the ominous, subterranean moonscape that gives you pause. For more than a moment, you just stand there, staring in open-mouthed wonder, but whatever awe you felt is quickly replaced by a feeling of apprehension as you begin marching towards it.
You are not far from the base of the pyramid when your eyes are drawn to something partially buried in the lunar soil just ahead. As you get closer to it, you are very much surprised to discover that the mysterious object is an astronaut’s helmet ― white with a gold sun visor!
Suddenly, the helmet moves. Recoiling in horror, you back away slowly as the area around it starts to crack, simultaneously shifting and displacing as something begins to stir underneath. A shower of dirt and moon rock ensues as whatever it is you have awakened fights its way to the surface.
What emerges from the ground is more terrifying than anything you could ever have imagined ― a grotesque amalgamation of man and arachnid, with the head, torso, and arms of a fully-suited astronaut, but the body and legs of a gigantic spider-like creature from the waist down! In place of its left hand is a large, lobster-like claw with warty growths, while what would normally be the astronaut’s right arm is the many-suckered appendage of an octopus!
You quickly envision your weapon of choice, and not a moment too soon, for, with a shrill, banshee-like shriek, the fiendish abomination scuttles across the moonscape towards you…
