This little snippet is from Malivor: Cataclysm’s Edge…
The passage widens significantly, and soon finds its resolution before a massive, arched doorway masterfully carved from the surrounding stone. Like the dragon statue in the temple, it, too, is completely covered by ancient runic symbols on all sides.
A magnificent chamber, virtually identical to the one in which you recovered the first artifact, awaits you on the other side. There, as well, wrapped in a shimmering sphere of opalescent splendor, is what can only be the Draconomicon.
You and Tolman are about to make for the artifact when a blood-curdling roar stops you dead in your tracks.
Emerging from a tunnel on the far end of the chamber is a hybrid monstrosity that, until now, you had thought only existed in myth. In appearance, it most closely resembles a large, adult male lion, but with the added heads of a dragon and a goat. Each one of its four powerful paws sport deadly, razor-sharp talons and in lieu of a lion’s tail is the head and body of a venomous serpent.
Even as you and the halfling are drawing your swords, the chimera quickly narrows the distance between you and itself…
